A fresh coat of paint on exterior wood siding can dramatically improve curb appeal and increase the value of your home. Wood siding regularly needs the protection of a new coat of paint or stain.
First step, clean the exterior to remove mold, mildew, debris and algae with a thorough but careful power washing.
Second, we scape and clean of any paint that is cracking or peeling with a paint scraper by hand. In larger areas, we use a power sander with care and precision as not to damage the wood siding.
Third, we fill and repair damaged areas of any holes, dings, or chips that need attention with a wood epoxy and then sand the surface for a smooth application.
Fourth, we protect doors, windows, railings, pipes and exterior lights, with plastic sheeting and painters’ tape.
Fifth, we apply a stain blocking primer to prevent stains or other imperfections from bleeding through the final coat of paint.
Sixth, we caulk seams and cracks after the primer has dried. We use a a waterproof caulk to fill gaps and create an airtight seal to prevent moisture from getting underneath the siding.
Seventh, after all of the prep work has been completed, with a combination of brushes, rollers, and/or a paint sprayer to achieve the best finish. We focus on the walls first and then trim and doors after.
