The homeowner wanted to enlarge a small closet in the master bedroom in their home.  Custom closets are one of the best home improvements that add value because they are highly desirable to potential homeowners. In fact, a recent report by Forbes stated that fitted closets have “gone from a desired amenity to an expectation.” Therefore, adding custom closets won’t just increase your home’s selling price — it could also make it much easier to sell.

Installing a larger, custom closet not only gives added storage, but it can also increase the overall value of your home, making it a worthwhile investment.

To begin the project, we framed the closet making sure that the size fit well in the space. We then covered the frame with drywall and after taping and mudding, we allowed the surface to dry before sanding it smooth using fine-grit sandpaper.

Next, we applied a primer to seal the new walls and prepare them for painting. Once the primer was dry, we applied paint to match the rest of the room, feathering the paint slightly so that it would blend seamlessly.

The next step was to add the finishing touches. We installed, primed, and painted trim to match the already existing trim. Finally, we installed closet doors and shelves.
